Coufal-Prater Equipment, LTD. was started as Coufal
Equipment Company, Inc. in Temple in 1974 as a full line
agricultural and lawn and garden dealership. The company
grew the next decade as John Deere broadened their product
line and market penetration. In 1985 Coufal Equipment
purchased the dealership in Cameron in order to better serve
customers in that area.
In 1992 Prater Equipment Company opened up the dealership in
Bryan, Texas as a lawn and garden and agricultural
dealership. In November 2001 the Navasota store was
purchased to help take care of this growing hay, Lawn and
Garden, and Row crop area. Coufal Equipment Company and
Prater Equipment Company then merged into one organization
called Coufal-Prater Equipment, LTD., this occurred in
November 2004. This merger has given us the opportunity to
become a better focused organization with specialized people
to better serve our customers, small and large.
Coufal-Prater Equipment, LTD. has been able to grow and
expand over the years due to offering second to none product
support in parts availability and service issues. We are
dedicated to our customers and servicing their equipment to
prevent costly down time. In order to achieve our goals in
all areas we continually hire, train and compensate our
employees in order to keep them excited about what they are
doing and also keep them challenged. It does not matter if
our customer is a large farmer or weekend hobbyist our goal
as an equipment supplier is to help provide a valuable
solution for their business or pleasure.
We offer a wide range of products to meet the needs of many
customers. We have focused salesmen and service personnel
that work with homeowners for their lawn and garden needs.
We have a full line of mowers, trimmers and blowers. We are
focused on the weekend sundown farmer that works in town and
has a weekend hobby or part-time rancher. We offer priority
service and parts for the commercial landscaper with
strenuous deadlines. We offer commercial worksite products
such as skid steer loaders and mini-excavators to meet the
needs of contractors, plumbers, landscapers and ranchers. We
have trained technicians that dedicate their efforts on
these products and customers. We have updated our store
locations, show room areas, and parts and service personnel
to better accommodate our customers and have a relaxed,
comfortable experience. We also have convenient hours to
better serve our customer to meet their time constraints.
We have also added the Purina feed products to our line of
products sold out of our Navasota location only. We have a
full line Country Store in Navasota that supplies feed for
cattle, horse, pet, and wild game feed. We carry Animal
health products along with saddles, Wrangler jeans, Twisted
X boots, belts and a large gift department. We carry at all
of our stores John Deere toys, clothing and John Deere
merchandise. We also have an online store to take care of
our customers that cannot visit one of our locations.
John Deere has always been dedicated to the row crop and
cattle and hay customer, as we are as a dealership. As our
ag customers get larger and equipment gets larger, more
efficient and complex it is imperative that we are more
focused and trained when it comes to technicians and
salesmen. Farming is becoming more technical as we move
forward with more control on inputs. With rising cost of
fertilizer, seed, fuel, equipment and labor, it is important
to have more control on where we put fertilizer, how much
seed is used and where it is put. Precision Farming is a
term used for satellite controlled steering and guidance and
repeatability. We now have dedicated personnel that focus on
precision farming. We have salesmen focused on the larger
farm and hay customers that require on farm visits and
deserve a salesmen dedicated to their success.
We at Coufal-Prater Equipment, LTD. have the philosophy of
trying to meet the needs of our variety of customers. It is
imperative that we are structured to meet these needs in
order for us to continue to grow. In order to offer
solutions for our customers we do offer extended hours, on
call weekend parts and service. We offer on site service
with our full line service trucks and experienced and
trained technicians. We have a regular freight truck that
delivers parts to all four stores so that we have what our
customer needs by early in the morning ready for them to
pick up. We are continually seeking ways to improve our
value to our customers.
We offer complete financing for all equipment, small or
large, for our customers to meet their needs and make their
purchasing decision easier. We have the John Deere Credit
Card for homeowner purchases and parts and service. We have
Farm Plan that offers a lot of flexibility for parts and
service purchases. Farm Plan allows our customer to be able
to do their daily business as long as larger purchases for
parts and service and be allowed to have three to six month
free interest and no payments. John Deere Credit has been a
long standing finance source for all equipment and is there
to work with the customers cash flow needs.
Coufal-Prater Equipment, LTD. is a company that is dedicated
to the community in all of our locations and surrounding
areas. We support our governmental agencies, non profit
organizations, 4-H organizations and FFA for our youth. We
strongly support our smaller communities and their fund
raising opportunities for community centers, volunteer
firemen and booster organizations. We support and try to
purchase at all county fairs for our future in our children.
We donate to the United Way as a company and do employee
drives to generate donations to local United Way efforts. We
urge our employees to be part of the communities.
